Authentic Spanish 2-Reales Silver Shipwreck Potosi Cob Coin in Bezel, Dated 1761
Spanish-colonial era Cob coin, dated 1761, Silver, minted in Potosi, denomination 2-Reales, mounted in a Sterling Silver custom made bezel to be worn as a pendant, with a rope-inspired bail/bale atop in the form of an S, very nice little detail that looks quite "nautical", coin from Unidentified origin wreck. An authentic Spanish-Colonial-Era silver shipwreck cob coin, Dated: 1761, denomination: 2-Reales, Potosi minted cob coin, almost all detail still very legible on the "Pillars" side of the coin year, mint mark, denomination, etc. The cross side is more heavily worn but still has the entire cross intact, even part of the border is still visible, too. This is a very nice, substantial and/or chunky coin that has a good shape as a result of the original minting process in which any excess metal left on the coin after being struck was clipped or sheared off in order to bring each coin to the proper weight. This process has created an extremely interesting shape from all sides, this is a coin with great character! Mounted in a custom, made-by-hand Sterling Silver bezel pendant, The gross weight of the entire pendant with coin is 8.43 grams.
