Authentic Spanish-Colonial Half-Real Silver Shipwreck Cob Coin in Custom Bezel

Authentic Half-Real (1/2 Real denomination) Spanish-Colonial Era Silver Cob Coin, from unidentified source/wreck, likely minted in Potosi, no visible date but likely minted in either late 1600s or very early 1700s. Exhibits some surface pitting consistent with prolonged saltwater corrosion, a phenomena commonly referred to as "shipwreck effect". The coin is mounted in a custom, handmade bezel pendant setting, constructed of 925 Sterling Silver, and yellow gold prongs approx. The pendant is open on both sides, making it reversible, if desired. The bale is sterling silver with a fully functional handmade miniature shackle with threaded hitch-pin, which is also removable without tools if desired.

The gross weight of the entire pendant and coin is 3.75 Grams, approximately. Ungraded, please see photos for condition and judge the item for yourself, thank you! While there is no written provenance for the item to show that it originated from a shipwreck, it was sourced from a family in possession of many such coins and other small artifacts which were accumulated over the course of decades by a devoted beachcomber in the family. The collection is comprised of items mostly found on beaches on the Gulf Coast U.

Anecdotal information for some items that were found by others can't always be verified by myself, and this is taken into consideration and is reflected in the pricing of each item, so please read full description and view all images and draw your own conclusions.
