Shipwreck 8 Reale Silver Cob Coin. The VLIEGENTHART also known as the Flying Hart was a Dutch East Indiaman lost on 3 Feburary 1735 after striking a sand bank off the coast of Zealand. All hands perished taking 431 lives. The VLIEGENTHART was travelling from Holland to Batavia carrying chests of gold and silver coins most of which were cobs minted in Mexico. The shipwreck was located in 1981 by Rex Cowan and the first coins were recovered in 1983.
