This is a genuine antique Spanish Cob piece of 8 Reale coin and 14K yellow gold pendant measuring 1 3/8 inches (36.4 MM) long including the bail by 7/8 inch (23 MM) wide. It comes with a 14K yellow gold 18 inch long box chain with a spring lock.

The yellow gold frame is securely set with a 96% pure silver, Spanish piece of 8 coin, possibly retrieved from one of the Spanish Flotilla ships or the Concepcion which sank in 1641 which have been salvaged off the Florida Keys, Havana bound for Spain. The coin is also known as a COB, which is an abbreviation of the Spanish "Cabo de Berra, " meaning cut from the end of the bar. The front of the coin features a cross, and the back a coat of arms. The coin is tested and guaranteed 96% silver, and the pendant and chain are tested and guaranteed 14K. The clasp is marked 14 Italy, and the necklace has been professionally cleaned and brightly polished. It weighs a substantial 10.1 grams.
